These Terms & Conditions apply to participation in Paint Big experiences operated by Mural Nomad (“Mural Nomad”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By purchasing a Paint Big ticket, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. About Paint Big
Paint Big is a small-group, hands-on creative experience hosted at Mural Nomad HQ in Burleigh Heads, Queensland.
Sessions may include practical mural painting, demonstrations, creative development, professional guidance, discussions, experimentation with materials and other activities related to large-scale art and the mural industry.
Paint Big is intentionally limited to a very small number of artists so participants can receive meaningful studio time, practical experience and guidance.
2. Bookings & Payment
Your place is confirmed once the required payment has been successfully received.
The standard Paint Big ticket price is the price displayed at the time of booking. Promotional, community or other discounted prices may occasionally be offered.
Unless otherwise stated, payment is required in full to secure your place.
Because each Paint Big session has extremely limited capacity, your booking removes that place from availability to other artists. If you made a genuine purchase mistake (you though you were buying something else), you can ask for a full refund only within 12h from the payment.
Of the standard ticket price, $200 is treated as a non-refundable booking component where you voluntarily cancel your attendance, subject always to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
3. Cancellations More Than 30 Days Before Paint Big
If you cancel more than 30 days before the scheduled start of your session, you may request a refund of the amount paid less the $200 booking component.
Alternatively, you may request to transfer your booking to another available Paint Big session.
4. Cancellations 14–30 Days Before Paint Big
If you cancel between 14 and 30 days before your session, your payment is generally non-refundable.
However, you may request one transfer to another available Paint Big session occurring within the following 12 months, subject to availability.
If we successfully resell your original place to another paying artist, we may instead offer a refund less the $200 booking component.
5. Cancellations Less Than 14 Days Before Paint Big
Cancellations made fewer than 14 days before the beginning of your session are generally non-refundable and non-transferable.
Because Paint Big attracts artists who may need to arrange travel, accommodation and time away from work, replacing a participant at short notice can be particularly difficult.
If we successfully fill your place with another paying participant, we may choose to offer you a refund less the $200 booking component.
Any such refund will be processed after the replacement participant has completed payment.
6. Ticket Transfers
If you cannot attend, you may request to transfer your place to another suitable artist.
Please contact us before arranging a transfer so that we can approve the transfer and update participant information.
Tickets may not be resold for more than the amount originally paid.
7. Illness & Unexpected Circumstances
We understand that genuine emergencies, illness and unexpected circumstances happen.
Please contact us as soon as possible if something significant prevents you from attending.
Although refunds outside the periods described above cannot be guaranteed, we may consider reasonable transfer options on a case-by-case basis.
We strongly recommend appropriate travel insurance for participants travelling to attend Paint Big.
8. Travel & Accommodation
Unless specifically stated otherwise, Paint Big tickets do not include accommodation, flights, visas, transport, travel insurance, meals or other personal travel expenses.
Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and ensuring they have any visas or permissions required to travel to and remain in Australia.
We recommend flexible or refundable travel and accommodation bookings wherever possible.
Travel disruption affecting an individual participant does not automatically entitle that participant to a Paint Big refund where the event itself is proceeding as advertised, subject to any rights available under Australian law.
9. Changes, Rescheduling or Cancellation by Mural Nomad
Occasionally, circumstances may require us to make reasonable changes to the schedule, activities, instructors, materials or format of Paint Big.
If we need to significantly reschedule or cancel a session, confirmed participants will be contacted as soon as reasonably possible and provided with the options and remedies applicable in the circumstances.
These may include transferring to another session, attending a rescheduled session or receiving a refund.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.
10. Mural Nomad HQ & Studio Safety
Mural Nomad HQ is a working creative studio and warehouse environment.
Participants agree to:
-follow reasonable safety instructions provided by Mural Nomad or its representatives;
-use tools, ladders, equipment and materials responsibly and only where authorised;
-wear appropriate clothing, footwear or protective equipment where requested;
-respect designated staff-only, storage or restricted areas;
-promptly report hazards, accidents, injuries or damaged equipment;
-behave responsibly around paints, tools, machinery and other studio equipment; and
-avoid behaviour that may create an unreasonable risk to themselves or others.
-Mural Nomad may prevent or stop a participant from undertaking an activity where we reasonably believe it would be unsafe.
11. Damage to Property
Participants are expected to treat the studio, artwork, tools, furniture, equipment and property belonging to Mural Nomad and other participants with reasonable care.
Where a participant intentionally, recklessly or negligently causes significant damage beyond normal wear associated with the activities, Mural Nomad may seek reasonable reimbursement for the resulting loss or repair, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Conduct & Respect
Paint Big is intended to be a welcoming, professional and supportive creative environment.
Harassment, threatening behaviour, discrimination, deliberate damage, serious disruption, violence or behaviour that creates a significant safety risk will not be accepted.
We reserve the right to require a participant to stop an activity or leave the premises where reasonably necessary to protect participants, staff, property or the safe operation of the experience.
Any decision regarding refunds in these circumstances will depend on the situation and applicable Australian law.
13. Guests & Studio Access
Your ticket provides access to Paint Big for the registered participant only.
Friends, partners, family members or other visitors may not participate in or remain within the working Paint Big studio areas without prior permission from Mural Nomad.
Certain areas of Mural Nomad HQ may remain private, restricted or staff-only.
14. Your Artwork & Intellectual Property
Artists generally retain copyright in the original artwork they personally create during Paint Big, subject to any different arrangement agreed in advance for a particular collaborative project.
Participation in Paint Big does not transfer ownership of your independent artistic practice or portfolio to Mural Nomad.
Collaborative artworks may involve multiple creators and will be discussed separately where relevant.
15. Mural Nomad Intellectual Property
Paint Big provides participants with access to knowledge, systems and resources developed through Mural Nomad's professional practice and educational work.
All Mural Nomad-created educational materials, presentations, templates, worksheets, exercises, videos, demonstrations, course materials, business resources, teaching resources, branding and other proprietary materials remain the intellectual property of Mural Nomad or their respective rights holders.
Your ticket might provide personal access to some of these materials for your own learning and professional development.
Unless we give written permission, you may not reproduce, distribute, sell, publish, upload, license, substantially copy or commercially exploit Mural Nomad educational materials.
You may apply what you learn to your own artistic practice and business.
16. Recording Teaching & Educational Content
Participants are welcome to photograph their own creative process and artwork where appropriate.
However, extended video or audio recording of workshops, demonstrations, presentations, teaching sessions or private discussions is not permitted without prior approval.
This protects both Mural Nomad's educational intellectual property and the privacy of other participants.
17. Photography, Video & Event Content
Paint Big is a creative event and photographs and video may be taken during the experience.
Mural Nomad may use general event photography and video documenting Paint Big for reasonable business purposes including our website, social media, portfolio, educational promotion and future Paint Big marketing.
We will aim to treat participants and their work respectfully when creating and using this content.
If you have a specific concern about appearing in photography or video, please contact us before your session so we can discuss reasonable arrangements.
Any separate commercial use that materially goes beyond documenting or promoting Mural Nomad and Paint Big may require additional permission where appropriate.
18. Other Participants' Privacy & Work
Please respect the privacy, artwork, conversations and creative processes of other artists.
Participation in Paint Big does not give you permission to commercially reproduce another participant's artwork, photograph private information or record private conversations without their consent.
19. Community & Promotional Discounts
Discounts and promotional codes must generally be applied during checkout.
They cannot ordinarily be applied retrospectively after payment has been completed.
Promotional codes have no cash value and cannot be combined unless expressly stated otherwise.
20. Personal Property
Participants remain responsible for their personal belongings while attending Paint Big.
Please take reasonable care of phones, laptops, tablets, art equipment and other valuables brought into the studio.
21. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where these Terms conflict with a non-excludable statutory right or remedy, that statutory right or remedy will apply.
22. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Queensland, Australia.
